Katie Quinn, a two-time All-Big West Conference honoree and one of UC Davis' all-time leading blockers, returned to her alma mater to serve as an assistant women's volleyball coach, announced head coach Dan Conners on March 21, 2016. Quinn will be involved in all aspects of the program, including that of recruiting coordinator, while her on-court focus will be with the Aggie middles.
Originally from San Anselmo, California, Quinn played for the Aggies from 2011 to 2014, making a successful transition from a pin hitter to one of the best middle blockers in program history. She amassed block totals of 99, 104 and 129 as sophomore through senior, respectively, ranking among the Big West leaders and earning All-BWC honorable mention in each of her final two years. Quinn ranks fourth on both the UC Davis season and career blocks list. She also finished with 529 kills and a .261 average on offense during her collegiate career.
Also an outstanding student, Quinn garnered Big West Conference All-Academic distinction in each of her final three years. She graduated with a degree in human development in 2015.
Prior to her Aggie career, Quinn was an all-state and three-time All-Marin County Athletic League honoree at Sir Francis Drake High School. Her arrival at UC Davis continued a family tradition: both her brother Erik and older sister Laura are Aggie alumni. Erik also played goalkeeper for the men's water polo team from 2007 to 2010.
