Aug. 25, 2014 DAVIS, Calif. - Midfielder Courtney Neff represented UC Davis among 238 Division I student-athletes on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Honor Roll, it was announced in August. To earn such honors, recipients must achieve at least junior status academically and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher.
A native of Lafayette, California and an alumna of Acalanes High School, Neff boasts a 3.81 GPA in international relations with a minor in Spanish. She previously led a contingent of four Aggie honorees on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic squad, and claimed the department's Herbert Schmalenberger Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2013-14 school year.
Neff is the first UC Davis player to win Division I IWLCA Academic honors since Hilary Harkins captured back-to-back in 2007 and 2008. Defender Jen Sanderson also captured the award in 2007. The Aggies enjoyed a strong history with the award during its Division II era, tallying 14 winners from 1997 through 2004, including 2004 Division II Scholar-Athlete of the Year Kelly Albin.
Bucknell's Katelyn Miller captured the 2014 IWLCA Division I Scholar-Athlete of the Year nod in July, while Regis' Danica Cutshall and Wheaton's Devon Soucier claimed the awards for Division II and III, respectively.
UC Davis women's lacrosse finished 8-8 in 2014. Neff started 10 of 16 games, scoring 15 goals with three assists.
