AUSTIN, Texas -- The UC Davis 800 free relay team of Samantha Shellem, Kirsten Brand, Robin Lampron, and Hilvy Cheung placed eighth in the "A" final on Friday night, highlighting a trio of scoring performances for the Aggies to close out day two at the Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas.

The UC Davis quartet touched in a time of 7:21.75, shaving more than half a minute off the team's only other performance in the 800 free relay at Pacific back on Oct. 18, when they finished with a time of 7:55.94, with Shellem swimming anchor. The 22 points, coupled with the Aggies two other scoring swims, gave them 62 points for the weekend thus far, keeping them in 10th place among the teams.

UC Davis started the day with an 11th place finish in the 200 medley relay as Hilary Hunt, Hailey Ferko, Megan Leung, and Shellem, touched in a season-best time of 1:41.91, topping the previous fastest time of the year (1:44.28) set by Hunt, Ferko, Cheung, and Shellem, against Nevada on Nov. 8.

Shellem then claimed four individual points for the Aggies in the 400 IM, finishing 13th by shaving nearly five seconds off her previous season best of 4:28.58, set against BYU on Nov. 15. Marissa Brown (25th, 4:25.19), Sam Rados (28th, 4:31.52), Elise Wright (30th, 4:33.60), Lexy Troup (31st, 4:36.55), and Karley Troup (32nd, 4:41.87), also earned second swims in the event.

The 200 free saw Shellem posted the Aggies' best finish of the day, ending up 19th with a season-best time of 1:49.36, three seconds better that her previous season best and two seconds off the school record.

Ferko and Elise Roberts advanced to the finals in the 100 breaststroke, finishing 18th and 30th with times of 1:03.41 and 1:04.67, respectively. Ferko's time was a second behind the NCAA "B" standard (1:02.49), while both were well under Ferko's previous season best time of 1:05.18 set against Nevada.

Hunt wrapped up her day by advancing to the finals in the 100 back, setting a season-best time of 55.90 to finish 24th overall, cutting two-tenths off her previous low of 56.18 set against the Wolf Pack.

The three-day event comes to an end on Saturday with the final six events: 200 back, 100 free, 200 breaststroke, 200 fly, and 1650 free, as well as the 400 free relay. Live results for the prelims and finals will, once again, be available online at http://sidearmstats.com/texas/swim/index.htm.
