COLUMBIA, Mo. -- UC Davis freshman Hilvy Cheung in the 200 fly, Hilary Hunt in the 200 back, and Audrey DeNeffe on the platform, each set school records, while three swimmers met NCAA "B" standards on Saturday, helping the Aggies finish fourth at the sixth-annual Mizzou Invitational in Columbia, Mo.
Cheung's time of 1:57.60 also broke the meet mark of 1:58.50 set by Boise State's Rachel Heaney in 2012 and bested the previous school record held by Yuka Kobayashi of 1:58.62 set at the 2006 Big West Conference Championships. Cheung's time was also good to meet the NCAA "B" standard of 1:59.59 for next spring's NCAA Championships.
Not to be outdone, Hunt, who set a school record on Friday in the 100 back, added her second school record of the weekend in the 200 back, touching in a time of 1:57.96 in the prelims to meet both the NCAA "B" standard and best her own school record of 1:58.82 set last season. She placed sixth overall in the championship finals with a time of 1:58.57.
DeNeffe finished eighth on the platform with a score of 181.00, but her prelim score of 210.65 broke her own school record in the event of 210.05 set last season at this meet.
Senior Liliana Alvarez followed suit, touching in a time of 2:13.22 in the 200 breaststroke to finish fifth and add a third NCAA "B" mark to the Aggies' list on Saturday.
Four more individuals and the 400 free relay squad also posted top-10 finishes on the day, including three Aggies in the 1,650 free. Lexy Troup was eighth with a time of 16:49.64, with her teammates Kirsten Brand (16:54.73) and Marissa Brown (16:55.04) right behind her in ninth and tenth, respectively.
Haley Porter finished eighth in the 100 free with a time of 50:56, while the 400 free relay squad of Katie Edwards, Porter, Samantha Shellem, and Hunt, finished fourth in a season-best time of 3:21.86.
UC Davis volunteer assistant coach Scott Weltz won the "B" Final in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:57.67 (which would be an NCAA "B" standard time) to place ninth overall, while posting an exhibition time of 1:53.65 in the 200 fly.
