DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's tennis team swept the doubles matches and had four singles victories in straight sets en route to a 6-1 win over Hawaii-Hilo in the home finale for the Aggies on Tuesday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

UC Davis has played three matches over the last four days, taking two victories at home to improve to 5-14 on the season. The Vulcans closed out their regular season with a 3-14 overall mark.

The Aggies started by posting wins in all three doubles matches, allowing at most three games won in any match. Hugo Verdi-Fortin and Kyle Miller started by defeating the team of Mizutani/Coffey, 8-2. Teams of Josh Albert/Toki Sherbakov and Chris Aria/George Horowitz helped secure the doubles point by each adding 8-3 wins in the No. 2 and 3 positions, respectively.

Sherbakov continued to roll at No. 1 singles, cruising to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Carlos Quijano. Aria also had a convincing victory, downing Kallen Mizuguchi at the No. 4 position, 6-3, 6-1. Verdi-Fortin and Josh Albert added straight-set wins in their respective positions at the No. 3 and 5 spots. Miller rounded out the singles wins for UC Davis, taking a 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 (5) victory over Ryan Coffey in the No. 2 position.

The Aggies will wrap up the regular season this weekend, traveling to Nevada on Saturday, Apr. 21 for a 12 p.m. match.
