DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's tennis team took the doubles point but dropped four singles matches, two of which extended to three sets, en route to a 4-3 loss to San Francisco on Sunday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

The Aggies were shorthanded with an injured Alec Haley sitting out, changing two doubles teams and the singles order. With the loss, UC Davis dropped to 3-9 overall while the Dons improved to 2-7 on the season.

Josh Albert and Toki Sherbakov had the first doubles win for the Aggies, downing USF's team of Samuelsson/Knowlman, 8-3. Chris Aria and George Horowitz managed to secure the doubles point, taking an 8-4 victory over the pair of Bahri/Hartwig.

Hugo Verdi-Fortin had an impressive come from behind victory at No. 4 singles after dropping the opening set, taking a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over Johan Samuelsson. Albert also battled his way to a three-set win, downing Bernardo Saraiva, 6-0, 2-6, 6-4. The Dons were able to win the remaining singles matches however, to steal the match victory.

Aria nearly took a win in his match at No. 3 singles, fighting through cramping despite a 6-4, 6-7, 7-5 loss to Richard Bucalem. Sherbakov also had a three-set loss, dropping a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 decision to Germain Bahri at the No. 1 position.

UC Davis will have an extended break before getting back into action on Mar. 30 and 31 at Hawai'i and Hawaii-Pacific.
