Alvarez Completes Run At NCAA Championships

AUBURN, Ala. - UC Davis sophomore Liliana Alvarez completed her final event at the 2012 Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championship, finishing 51st in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:16.38 Saturday at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, Ala.

Alvarez was 36th overall in the 100 breaststroke on Friday, posting a time of 1:01.83. She is just the second UC Davis women's swimmer to advance to the Division I NCAA Championships and the first Aggie to have multiple trips.

Alvarez, a San Anselmo, Calif. native, recorded multiple NCAA "B" Consideration Standard times throughout the year, including season best times of 1:00.71 (100 yard breast) and 2:12.72 (200 yard breast). She also captured a MPSF Championship in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.80.

UC Davis ended the season with a third-place finish in the MPSF Championships. Throughout the four-day conference meet, the Aggies accounted for five event championships, nine NCAA "B" Standard times and three school records, among several season and lifetime bests.
