DAVIS, Calif. - Toki Sherbakov posted a three-set victory at No. 1 singles in addition to a doubles win for the UC Davis men's tennis team, despite the Aggies falling 6-1 to Loyola Marymount on Sunday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

Sherbakov's win was his third singles victory in a row and improved his overall record to 4-2 on the season. UC Davis fell to 2-4 as a team on the season, while the Lions improved to 3-4 overall.

Sherbakov and Chris Aria opened the match with a win at No. 3 doubles, downing the team of Van Kann/Northcott, 8-2. After a loss the No. 2 position the Aggies had the doubles point in sight but Kyle Miller and Hugo Verdi-Fortin dropped a slim loss to LMU's pair of Bustamante/Wilton, 9-8 (8).

At the No. 1 position in singles play, Sherbakov had a come-from-behind victory over Alex Wilton, posting a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 win. Verdi-Fortin also extended his match to a third set but fell to Daniel Simko, 6-2, 6-7, 6-1. The Lions managed to seal the win after taking victories in straight sets in the remaining singles matches.

UC Davis will be back in action next week at home, hosting Weber State on Friday in a 2 p.m. match.
