STOCKTON, Calif. - The UC Davis men's tennis team won the doubles point with victories in the first two positions, despite dropping a 6-1 contest at Pacific on Saturday at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts.
The Aggies fell to 1-2 overall with a loss in the first Big West match of the season. The Tigers improved to 1-2 on the season with a 1-0 mark in conference play.
Kyle Miller and Hugo Verdi-Fortin paced UC Davis with a win at the No. 1 doubles position, downing the team of Castro/Hamilton, 8-6. Josh Albert and Alec Haley posted the clinching doubles win, taking an 8-4 victory over the pair of Golding/Cederwall.
Toki Sherbakov extended his singles match to three sets, before falling 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 to Ivan Castro in the No. 1 position. Pacific managed to take wins in straight sets in the remaining singles matches en route to the win.
The Aggies will be back in action next weekend, playing a pair of matches in Portland, starting with George Fox on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 3 p.m.
