Alvarez Places in Top 25 at NCAA Championships

AUSTIN, Texas - UC Davis freshman Liliana Alvarez clocked in at 1:00.96 in the 100 breaststroke to finish 23rd overall on Friday at the 2011 Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championship at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin.

Alvarez finished only 0.46 seconds away from achieving a spot in the consolation finals of the event and topped swimmers from UCLA, Florida, Auburn and Texas, among others, en route to her 23rd place finish in the 49-swimmer field.

The freshman resumes action on Saturday, competing in the 200 breaststroke.
