ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - Sophomore attacker and reigning Big West Conference Player of the Week Carmen Eggert scored two first-quarter goals to propel 15th-ranked UC Davis to a 10-4 win over Sonoma State in collegiate women's water polo action at Edward Rudloff Pool Saturday afternoon.
The Aggies take their seventh straight win, improving to 10-5 for the season.
Eggert and fellow sophomore Jessica Dunn netted three goals within the first two minutes to jumpstart UC Davis to a 3-0 lead. Junior Kaylee Miller and freshman Hannah Curran scored later in the opener to extend the margin to 5-0 before Seawolf sophomore Natalie Del Carlo put her team on the board with 1:08 remaining.
Aggie juniors Dakotah Mohr and Alicia Began added two goals in the second period to put UC Davis up by a 7-3 advantage at the half. Michelle Hook, Katie Schlueter and Heidi Kucera scored for the Aggies in the second half while the defense held SSU scoreless for more than 12 straight minutes after the break.
Sophomore driver Lindsay Rangel led the Seawolves offensively with two goals.
UC Davis also faced the Olympic Club in exhibition play on Saturday. The Aggies return to action with a home tripleheader with Harvard and Fresno Pacific on Monday before taking a break for the university's final examinations.
