COLUMBIA, Mo. - The UC Davis women's swimming and diving team competed in day one at the Missouri Invitational, with several players registering season best times on Thursday at the Mizzou Aquatics Center. After day one, the Aggies sit in seventh place with 136 points.
Competing on the women's side, UC Davis faces seven schools in the four-day tournament, including the University of Kansas, Boise State University, Drury University, Saint Louis University, the University of North Dakota, the University of North Texas and the host school Missouri University.
Kayleigh Foley led the Aggies with a team-high seventh place finish among 40 competitors in the 50 yard freestyle, posting a time of 23.18 after a season best time of 23.10 in the prelims.
In the 100 yard fly finals, UC Davis had a team-best four players record points. Sara Ramos (56.52), Karley Troup (56.54), Megan Leung (56.69) and Jenah Dawson (56.72) each tallied points for the Aggies, while setting season best times in the prelims.
UC Davis also had a strong showing in the 500 yard free finals, as Cara Silvas (4:59.80), Grace Benefield (5:00.79) and Sarah Winters (4:59.08) all had season best times in the prelims before finishing 12th, 15th and 16th in the finals, respectively.
In the relay events, the Aggies finished fifth in both finals of the 200 free relay (1:34.77) and the 400 yard medley relay (3:44.65).
UC Davis will be back in action tomorrow with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and finals starting at 6 p.m. The Aggies will compete in the 400 yard IM, 200 yard free, 100 yard breast, 100 yard back, 200 yard medley relay and 1 meter diving events.
