STANFORD, Calif. - Jonathan Peterson finished 10th overall while Sarah Sumpter paced the Aggie women with a 28th-place finish and the UC Davis men's and women's cross country teams finished 17th and eighth, respectively, at the NCAA West Regional meet on Saturday.

Peterson's 10K time of 29:30 was over 35 seconds faster than the time he set in last year's West Regional meet.

Stanford and Portland finished one-two to earn automatic bids to the postseason, as did the top four individuals not on a qualifying team, including Arizona's Lawl Lalang who won the men's race in a time of 28:34.

Axel Stanovsky was the next Aggie finisher, crossing the line in a time of 31:11, and was followed by Natham Strum's time of 31:52. Freshman Trevor Halsted finished only two places later, clocking in at 31:52.

Alex Summers finished in a time of 32:06, while Grayson Hough recorded a time of 34:08. Joseph Rivera rounded out the UC Davis men's side with a time of 34:22.

Sumpter, who clocked in at 20:58 in the women's 6K race, and sophomore Alycia Cridebring each turned in top-50 finishes as Cridebring came in 45th overall with a time of 21:25.

Krista Drechsler came in 51st with a time of 21:30 while newcomer Kristine Lozoya finished in a time of 21:38 and placed 57th. Kristina Taylor was 67th with a time of 21:47 while freshman Katie Fry crossed just two spots behind her Aggie teammate with a time of 21:48.

Shannon Harcus clocked in at 22:40.

Washington claimed the team title while Arizona finished in second to advance to the NCAA Championships. Oregon's Jordan Hasay finished was the women's individual champion with her time of 19:44.

There are 13 at-large bids to the NCAA Championships up for grabs which will be announced on Nov. 13.
