FRESNO, Calif. - UC Davis had singles wins from Josh Albert and George Horowitz on Saturday at the Bulldog Classic, as the Aggies continued competition in day two at the Fresno State tourney. Albert posted a semifinal win in flight C singles to advance to the finals held on Sunday.
Albert advanced to the finals by defeating Fresno City College's Sam Bertram in a three-set match, 7-5, 4-6, 6-0. Horowitz competed in the flight C singles consolation semifinals, advancing to a finals match of his own after downing Hong Pei Lu of Pacific, 6-0, 6-1. Horowitz ended his singles play with a win, posting a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Nevada's Jordan Rozenfield in the finals.
Hugo Verdi-Fortin and Kyle Miller were also in action on Saturday but came up short in a doubles loss to Oregon's team of Clissod/Izquierdo, 8-6.
UC Davis will complete their trip to the Bulldog Classic on Sunday when Albert attempts to take a finals win in flight C singles.
