SAN JOSE, Calif. - Junior center Dakotah Mohr scored four goals in a 13-8 win against Santa Clara while sophomore Jessica Dunn tallied five scores on the day as 16th-ranked UC Davis split its Sunday action at the Spartan Invitational women's water polo tournament at San Jose State. The Aggies lost to No. 3 California, 13-5, earlier in the day.
The Aggies, who also split their Day 1 matches at the tournament, move to 3-2 for the season.
Dunn scored three goals to lead UC Davis in the early-afternoon loss to the Golden Bears. Sophomore Carmen Eggert and junior Ariel Feeney also netted one goal each, while sophomore Riane Woods was credited with nine goalie saves. Cal sophomore driver Breda Vosters recorded a game-high five goals, helping her team claim a 5-3 halftime lead. Dana Ochsner and Kelly Mendoza also scored twice for the Golden Bears, who outscored the Aggies by a 5-1 margin in the fourth quarter.
In the nightcap, Mohr led eight UC Davis scorers in the win over the Broncos. Dunn and Feeney each added two, with Eggert, Alicia Began, Carey Faber, Michelle Hook and Danelle Kenny chipping in one goal apiece. The Aggies scored six goals in the first frame and held an 8-5 edge at the break, never relinquishing the lead.
For SCU, senior utility Taylor Harkins netted four goals.
UC Davis comes home to host No. 15 Indiana for a Friday afternoon opener. First sprint is scheduled for 4 p.m.
