DAVIS, Calif. - Liliana Alvarez, Kayleigh Foley and Linda Hermann each won two individual events to lead the UC Davis women's swimming and diving team to a 200-93 victory over Cal State Bakersfield Saturday at Schaal Aquatics Center in Davis, Calif.
The Senior Day victory was the Aggies' third straight dual meet win and moves their overall record to 9-2. UC Davis remains undefeated in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation with a 4-0 record.
Hermann, one of eight Aggie seniors who were honored in a pre-meet ceremony, finished first in the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:56.04 and won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:07.16. She also clocked in at 2:08.54 in the 200 individual medley and picked up a second place finish with the 200 medley "B" relay.
Foley's wins came in the sprint freestyle events. The junior led an Aggie sweep of the 50 freestyle, finishing first in a time of 23.94. She was followed by teammates Katelyn Griffin, who was second in a time of 24.59, and Morgan Lee who placed third with a time of 25.18. Foley also won the 100 freestyle in a time of 51.43, outlasting Cal State Bakersfield's Rachel McCall who was second in a time of 53.96.
Alvarez was victorious in both breaststroke events, winning the 100 breast in a time of 1:04.25 and edging senior teammate Heidi Kucera in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:23.16. Kucera was second with a time of 2:23.92 and was followed by Alyssa Britt's third-place time of 2:28.70.
Sarah Winters won the 1,000 freestyle in a season-best time of 10:31.72 while Ashley Chandler clocked in at 57.69 in the 100 backstroke to win the event.
UC Davis also swept the 200 butterfly with freshman Karley Troup leading the way with a winning time of 2:11.59. She was followed by Alyssa Britt who finished second with a time of 2:14.84 and Madeline Talt who recorded a time of 2:15.05 to place third. It was the first time this season in that event for both Britt and Talt.
In diving, Erica Stricker won both the one-meter and three-meter events. She turned in a score of 227.18 on the one-meter board, then won the three-meter diving with a score of 238.73. Freshman Lauren Jesse was second on the low board with a season-best score of 212.93, while Nicole Bahbout's high board score of 207.45 earned her a second place finish in three-meter diving.
UC Davis closes out the dual meet season with back-to-back competitions at Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara. The Aggies visit the Mustangs Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., then conclude the year with an 11 a.m. meet against the Gauchos in Santa Barbara.
