Aggies Power Past Pacific in Dual Meet Action

DAVIS, Calif. - Erica Stricker set a school record in one-meter diving and the UC Davis women's swimming and diving team won 11 individual events and the 400 freestyle relay to take a 184-105 victory over Pacific in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation dual meet Friday at Schaal Aquatics Center in Davis, Calif.

The Aggies are now 7-2 overall and are undefeated in league action with a 3-0 mark. Pacific now stands at 5-3 overall and picked up their first conference loss to move to 4-1.

Stricker's mark of 265.80 on the one-meter board topped the previous UC Davis record of 260.70 set by Krysta Chaldekas in 2008.

The senior out of Redding, Calif. also won the three-meter competition with a season-best score of 266.00.

UC Davis received multiple victories from Linda Hermann, Kayleigh Foley and Liliana Alvarez with Foley picking up three wins while Hermann and Alvarez each won two individual events. Foley and Hermann also helped lead the 400 free relay to a victory.

Foley first saw victory in the 100 backstroke, clocking in at 1:00.35 to outlast Pacific's Shelby Bolin who was second with a time of 1:00.85. In the 100 freestyle, Foley's time of 51.96 topped the rest of the competition and she completed her day with a win in the 100 butterfly in a time of 58.38.

Hermann took first in the 200 freestyle by over four seconds with a time of 1:52.41 and won the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:04.56.

Alvarez won both breaststroke events with a time of 1:03.79 in the 100 breaststroke and a time of 2:19.97 in the 200 breaststroke.

UC Davis also saw wins from Grace Benefield who was first in the 1000 freestyle in a time of 10:31.12 and Ashley Chandler who won the 50 freestyle with a season-best time of 23.96.

For Pacific, Elena Walterman outstretched UC Davis' Karley Troup in the 200 butterfly to take the win in a time of 2:09.54. Hayley Shillington led the Tigers in the 500 freestyle, winning the event in a time of 5:07.45.

UC Davis travels to Reno Saturday to face the Nevada Wolf Pack at noon at Lombardi Pool.
