DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis women's tennis team ran its winning streak to five with a 7-0 victory over visiting Cal State Fullerton Saturday afternoon in a Big West Conference match at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The Aggies won all three doubles matches before winning each singles match in straight sets. With the win, UC Davis improves to 7-7 overall and 2-3 in the Big West. The victory also kept the Aggies a perfect 6-0 at home. The Titans dropped to 1-12 and 0-5 in the conference.
Doubles began with an Aggie win at No. 3. The duo of Lauren Curry and Noelle Eades defeated Karina Akhmedova and Malorie dela Cruz, 8-2. UC Davis clinched the doubles' point at No. 2 as Ellie Edles and Dahra Zamudio posted an 8-2 victory over Jerusha Cruz and Erin Wiesener. The Aggies also added a win at No. 1 where Herzyl Legaspi and Desiree Stone defeated Tiffany Mai and Monica Rodriguez, 8-5.
In singles, Stone made it 2-0 when she defeated Mai at No. 1, 6-0, 6-2. Next off was Zamudio on court two as she cruised past Rodriguez, 6-4, 6-1, to make it 3-0. The overall clinching match was the result of Legaspi's win at No. 3. The Aggie senior defeated Wiesener, 6-1, 6-1.
UC Davis also picked up three wins from the bottom of the order. Curry, Edles and Sidney Brady were victorious at No. 4 through No. 6, respectively.
The Aggies' winning streak started on March 7 at UC Riverside. During the stretch, the squad has outscored its opponents, 33-1.
UC Davis is next in action Wednesday when it hosts Montana at 2 p.m.
