AUSTIN - Heidi Kucera set two NCAA "B" Consideration Standard times and the UC Davis women's swimming recorded 19 individual season best times Thursday on the first day of the Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame Invitational held at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin.
Kucera set both "B" marks in the 200 individual medley, after clocking in with a season and team best time of 2:00.34 in the event preliminaries. She finished seventh overall in the event finals with a time of 2:01.77, also an NCAA "B" Consideration time.
The 200 freestyle "A" relay of Morgan Lee, Samantha Capozzo, Sabrina Cochrane and Kayleigh Foley finished seventh overall with a season-best time of 1:35.01. The 400 medley relay "A" team also came in seventh overall with Linda Hermann, Liliana Alvarez, Foley and Kucera combining for a time of 3:47.55, also a season-high.
UC Davis was also led by a strong performance from Hermann, who finished in the top 20 in both the 500 freestyle and the 200 IM. Hermann turned in a season and team-best time of 4:53.46 in the 500 free prelims, then finished 16th overall with a finals time of 4:56.02. In the 200 IM, Hermann's clocked in at 2:02.69 in the prelims, which stood as ninth-fastest as well as a season and team best time for the Aggies. She was 13th overall with a time of 2:03.04.
Foley advanced to the finals of both the 100 butterfly and the 50 freestyle. In the 100 fly, she advanced to the event final by way of a season-best time of 55.85 in the prelims and finished 23rd overall with a finals time of 56.60. Foley clocked in with a season and team-best time of 23.56 in the prelims of the 50 freestyle and was 26th overall with a finals time of 23.68.
Jenah Dawson earned second swims in both the 100 fly and 200 IM, finishing 29th overall in the 100 fly with a time of 57.52 and 31st in the 200 IM with a season-best time of 2:07.55.
Cochrane finished 21st overall in the 200 IM with a season-best time of 2:04.06 and 35th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.19, also a season-best. Capozzo was 31st in the 50 free with a time of 24.25 while Grace Benefield placed 26th in the 500 free with a season-best time of 5:00.28. Benefield finished just ahead of Sarah Winters who was 27th in the 500 free with a time of 5:08.38, also a season best.
Alvarez was 30th overall in the 200 IM with a season-best time of 2:07.20 and Morgan Lee was 34th in the 50 freestyle, recording a season-best time of 24.01.
The Aggies continue action at the Texas Invite Friday with event preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m. Central. Events include the 200 medley relay, 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and the 800 freestyle relay.
