DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis women's swimming and diving team won 12 of 14 swimming events, including the 200 medley relay, to defeat Seattle and Loyola Marymount Sunday in a double dual meet at Schaal Aquatics Center in Davis, Calif.
UC Davis defeated Seattle by a score of 169-87 and took a 163-94 win over Loyola Marymount.
The "A" relay team of Linda Hermann, Liliana Alvarez, Megan Leung and Kayleigh Foley combined for a time of 1:46.22 in the 200 medley relay to win the event.
Hermann, Alvarez and Leung each went on to win two individual events while five other Aggies posted individual event wins.
Hermann's time of 58.64 in the 100 backstroke led to a first place finish in the event, while her mark of 52.35 in the 100 freestyle gave her a second individual win on the day.
Alvarez recorded wins in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. The freshman clocked in at 1:05.11 in the 100 breaststroke to win the event and posted a mark of 2:20.34 in the 200 breaststroke for the win.
Leung's two wins came in the butterfly events with a time of 58.91 in the 100 butterfly and a time of 2:09.29.
Other UC Davis event wins included freshman Madeline Talt taking the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 17:48.56, Kayleigh Foley winning the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.91, and Ashley Chandler touching the wall first in the 50 freestyle in a time of 24.17. Additionally, freshman Joann Liang earned a win in the 200 backstroke, clocking in at 2:08.32, and Heidi Kucera finished first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:06.31.
Kucera's exhibition time of 4:27.24 in the 400 individual medley set a Schaal Aquatics Center record, the senior's second of the weekend. Kucera's mark tops the previous record set by Nevada's Courtney Eads who recorded a time of 4:27.84 Jan. 20, 2008 in a double dual meet with Nevada and UC San Diego.
UC Davis will host Fresno State in dual meet action Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at Schaal Aquatics Center.
