OPENING TIPS
UC Davis will try to match its longest winning streak of the season and its longest since the 2007-08 season when the Aggies travel to Cal State Bakersfield for their last nonconference game of the regular season... The Aggies are currently tied for first place in the Big West Conference with Cal Poly and are tied with the Mustangs for the most overall wins... With a 6-3 road record, more than half of UC Davis' 11 wins have come on the road... Their half-dozen victories away from The Pavilion already equal its total from last season... UC Davis, which is leading the Big West in scoring defense (59.4) and is the only team giving up less than 50 ppg., has been especially tough on the road, allowing only 59.4 ppg. so far... Overall, the Aggies have held 10 opponents to fewer than 60 points and are 9-1 in those matchups.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. CAL STATE BAKERSFIELD
The Aggies trail 8-1 in the all-time series between the teams which started in 2000-01 while both were members of the California Collegiate Athletic Association... UC Davis won the initial matchup 85-79 but has lost the last eight including all four matchups in Bakersfield... The Aggies and Roadrunners played eight times before taking a break in their series in 2003-04... They met up again last season at The Pavilion with Cal State Bakersfield winning 80-71... G KATIE WILLIAMS scored 30 points and had 12 rebounds to pace the Roadrunners while P _paige00.html" >Paige Mintun and G Genevieve Costello each had 15 to lead UC Davis which trailed 40-35 at halftime.

A QUICK LOOK AT THE ROADRUNNERS
Cal State Bakersfield is in its final year of a four-year reclassification from NCAA Division II to Division I status... The Roadrunners are playing every member of the Big West this season and currently own a 3-2 record including victories over UC Irvine (77-75), UC Riverside (85-70) and Cal State Northridge (91-71)... G KATIE WILLIAMS has been scoring well for CSUB, averaging 20.1 ppg... She is one of two Roadrunners in double figures, joined by PHYNIQUE ALLEN (16.1)... CSUB is averaging 76.9 ppg and allowing 72.3... It has also been very prolific from three-point territory, averaginst 7.9 pg... Williams has canned 39, AMBER WILLIAMS has made 33 and Allen has converted 20... The Roadrunners attempt an average of 21.5 per game... TAMIKO DAVIS averages a team-best 7.2 rebounds per game but CSUB is being outboarded (46.4-34.7) overall... The Roadrunners enter the game on a three-game winning streak and have won five of their past six.

LAST GAME: UC DAVIS 77, UC IRVINE 44
W Kasey Riecks connected on a trio of three-pointers and scored a game-high 17 points, W Haylee Donaghe finished with 12 and W Cortney French pitched in with 10 points as UC Davis cruised to an easy win at UC Irvine on Thursday night... UC Davis was playing its lone game of the week after securing a trio of Big West victories last week and any concerns of a letdown were alleviated in the first half when the Aggies took a 19-point lead at intermission... UC Davis scored eight straight points in the early minutes, overcoming its only deficit of the night to go up 10-4 after less than five minutes... A jumper by P Paige Mintun pushed the lead to double-digits at 21-10 while Donaghe's two free throws with 5 minutes, 3 seconds left in the half gave UC Davis its first 19-point advantage at 31-12... The Aggies went 5 of 10 from three-point land before the break and shot 45.2% overall to help build the lead while holding the Anteaters to just 33% overall and 0 of 6 from beyond the arc... UC Davis continued to swell the lead after halftime, pushing it to 52-25 with 13:39 to go after two free throws by French. It reached a 30-point margin at 57-27 just over two minutes later and didn't get less than 26 points the remainder of the way. The biggest lead was 35 points.

AGGIES CONTINUE TO LEAD LEAGUE IN SCORING DEFENSE
The Aggies are the top conference team in scoring defense, giving up an average of just 59.4 ppg., just ahead of second-place UC Santa Barbara (61.3)... They've held 10 opponents to less than 60 points and are 9-1 in those matchups, the exception coming when Seton Hall was able to break the string in its 58-54 win on Dec. 21.. Kansas State was only the second opponent to surpass 70 points against UC Davis, scoring 73; a total which pushed the Aggies' defensive average above 60 ppg. for the first time this year... The Aggies are also third in FG pct. defense (.397) and 3-pt defense (.329).

REBOUNDING SEES THE LIGHT AT UC IRVINE
UC Davis has only outrebounded three teams this year, including Santa Clara (+9) and Cal State Northridge (+7)... But after being outboarded an average of 17.5 rpg during wins over UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly, the Aggies got the better of UC Irvine, holding a 38-32 advantage on the boards... Included were a dozen offensive rebounds... The Aggies are last in the Big West in both rebounds (31.5) and margin (-6.7) but are second in rebounds allowed (38.2)... UC Davis has been outrebounded by at least 10 boards in five games this year, none larger than a 46-19 disadvantage to UCSB... Amazingly, the Aggies won that game 54-49.

IF THEY DRESS, THEY WILL PLAY
UC Davis has relied on its depth to post its 11-6 record so far... Every Aggie that has dressed in a game has played in that game... Five players are averaging at least 20 minutes per game, and 10 of the 12 players on the active roster are in double figures... Only six, however, have made it into the stsarting lineup with W Heidi Heintz, W Kasey Riecks, W Haylee Donaghe and G Hana Asano each arting all 17.

AGGIES PACE THE BIG WEST IN FOUR AREAS:
UC Davis is not just in first place in the standings, it also leads the league in four statistical categories... Currently, they are tops in scoring defense (59.4), scoring margin (+5.7), steals (11.24) and turnover margin (+4.82)... They are second in both free throw pct. (.737) and rebounds allowed (38.2) and are among the top half in 13 statistical areas overall.

DOUBLE-TROUBLE FROM DOWNTOWN
W Kasey Riecks and W Cortney French have proven to be potent 1-2 punch from three-point territory, making 26 and 24, respectively, from beyond the arc... Riecks currently ranks fifth in the Big West while French is tied for seventh... Both have also enjoyed big days from downtown... Riecks had five treys in the Aggies' season-opening win at Seattle and has made three each of her alst two games, while French matched her with five against Kansas State on Dec. 29... UC Davis currently ranks fourth, averaging 5.9 pg... Of the 12 active players on the roster, seven of them have made at least eight.

DONAGHE GETS EXTRA YEAR
W Haylee Donaghe was granted a clock extension in October 2008 by the NCAA due to injuries earlier in her Aggie career... That gave her two years of eligibility at the time but, unfortunately, a knee injury suffered at South Dakota State in December 2008 cut short one of those seasons... Donaghe completed her undergraduate degree in exercise biology in June 2008 and is currently enrolled in graduate studies at UC Davis, expecting to graduate with her master's degree in exercise biology next spring... Donaghe needs 168 points to become the 14th player in school history to surpass 1,000 for her career.

FOUR'S NOT A CROWD
The Aggies had four players - W Heidi Heintz, W Kasey Riecks, W HALEY DONAGHE and W Vicky Deely - score in double figures during Jan. 9's win against Cal Poly... That marked the second Big West game through the first four that UC Davis has achieved that, and the third game overall... The other two were at Saint Mary's (P Paige Mintun, Riecks, Heintz, W Lauren Juric) and at Cal State Fullerton (Heintz, Donaghe, Riecks, Mintun).

LINEUP CONSISTENCY
Despite having a deep lineup, UC Davis head coach Sandy Simpson has used consistency with his starting five... The quintet of P Paige Mintun, W HALEY DONAGHE, W Kasey Riecks, W Heidi Heintz and G Hana Asano have started 11 of the 17 games, going 8-3... When Mintun missed four games in December, W Lauren Juric was inserted into her spot for those plus two more... UC Davis went 3-3.

HEINTZ NAMED BIG WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
W Heidi Heintz, who averaged 13.3 points and was nearly perfect from the line during UC Davis' first three wins in early December, was named the Big West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Dec. 7... Heintz had a team-high 15 points and eight rebounds in UC Davis' 71-59 win at Saint Mary's on Dec. 1, followed with 12 points and a game-best seven boards in the Aggies' 74-56 victory at Santa Clara on Dec. 3, then scored 13 points during a 64-57 win over visiting Denver on Dec. 5... Heintz, who transferred to UC Davis from the University of San Francisco, shot 57.1 percent from the field and 93.8 percent (15 of 16) from the line... She is the Aggies' first Big West weekly honoree of the season.

SIMPSON BECOMES ALL-TIME WINS LEADER
With a 53-50 win at Cal State Northridge last Mar. 4, Head coach Sandy Simpson became the all-times win leader at UC Davis with 206... He owns a career mark in 13 seasons of 217-139 (.610)... He picked up his 200th career win on Jan. 4 with an 86-66 victory over visiting Cal State Northridge... Simpson surpassed former coach JORJA HOEHN (1988-95, 96-97) who amassed a 205-51 (.801) record during her impressive tenure... Simpson served as an assistant coach under Hoehn as well as mentor PAM GILL-FISHER (1975-79, 81-86, 87-88) who posted 164 career victories.

UC DAVIS SCORES BIG ON ALL-BIG WEST TEAMS
The Aggies were well-represented on the All-Big West Conference teams last year, despite finishing 7-9 in league and in fifth place... P Paige Mintun, who led the team in scoring (13.0 ppg), rebounding (6.4 rpg) and blocks (31), was named to the All-BWC first team... W Lauren Juric, who canned 35 three-pointers, was named the Big West Freshman of the Year... W Kasey Riecks, who started all 29 games, was selected to the All-Freshman team... She and Juric were also tabbed honorable mention all-league.

UC DAVIS TO BE TESTED WITH SCHEDULE
The Aggies will face a 2009-10 schedule that features teams from the Big XII, Pac-10 and Big East conferences during a rugged nonconference slate... Among the teams they have faced or will face are preseason No. 2 Stanford (Nov. 22), NCAA Tournament team Kansas State (Dec. 29) and Women's National Invitational Tournament participant Creighton (Nov. 27)... The Aggies will also battle rival UC Santa Barbara twice during the league season... The Gauchos advanced to last year's NCAA postseason with the Big West's automatic berth... UC Riverside, another Big West foe, earned a spot in the WNIT.
