Kucera Opens NCAA Championships For UC Davis

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Junior Heidi Kucera swam the prelims of the 200-yard individual medley and became the first true Division I UC Davis swimmer to compete at the NCAA Division I Championships during the opening day of the event at the Student Rec Center Natatorium on the campus of Texas A&M.

Kucera went 2:01.12 in the event to finish 54th overall. Kucera's time was her second-fastest in the event this season. She went 1:58.36 at the Big West Conference Championships to win the event in B-cut fashion.

Kucera returns tomorrow to compete in the 100 breaststroke. Preliminary swims begin at 11 a.m. with finals set for 7 p.m. Fans can follow the results with live video and results through the championships page, which can be accessed through the UC Davis swimming page on ucdavisaggies.com.
