BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Sophomore center Dakotah Mohr scored a total of eight goals to lead No. 7 UC Davis to a pair of convincing wins at the Roadrunner Invitational women's water polo tournament at Cal State Bakersfield's Hillman Aquatic Center Saturday. She scored three goals in a 19-5 win over Concordia in the Aggies' early game, then added five goals in the 18-8 win over Colorado State.
UC Davis improves to 7-3 for the season.
Mohr is the first Aggie to record a hat trick for the season. Freshman Christina Miyabe followed soon after, scoring three goals in the third period in the win over CUI. Anorther freshman, Lyndsay Sutterley, completed her hat trick midway in the fourth period. Sophomore Lauren Seidemann and freshmen Kaylee Miller and Carey Faber each added two goals against the Eagles.
In the Aggie nightcap, Mohr scored four of her five goals as part of an eight-goal third period. Senior Lindsay Kiyama added four scores, including three in the first period. Freshman Alicia Began added three goals and two assists.
UC Davis never trailed in either game, holding a 12-3 halftime lead over Concordia and a 6-3 edge at the break against Colorado State. In all, 12 different Aggie field players scored at least one goal for the day.
The Aggies continue play at the Roadrunner Invitational on Sunday with games against host CSUB (9:15 a.m.) and Cal State East Bay (2 p.m.), both former UC Davis leaguemates in the Western Water Polo Association.
