STANFORD, Calif. - The UC Davis women's tennis team completed play, Saturday, at the Wilson/ITA Northwest Regional Championships in Stanford. Dahra Zamudio was in action in the main draw singles while Ellie Edles and Herzyl Legaspi competed in doubles. A number of Aggies also took part in consolation singles.
Coming off a pair of wins to start singles play on Friday, Zamudio was defeated in the round of 32 by Saint Mary's Alex Poorta. The final score was 6-1, 6-4. In the main draw doubles round of 16, Edles and Legaspi fell to top-seeded Mari Andersson and Jana Juricova of Cal, 8-0.
Five Aggies competed on Saturday in consolation singles. Sidney Brady and Noelle Eades both won. Brady defeated Sandra Florea of San Jose State, 6-2, 2-0, ret. Eades was a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (14-12) winner over USF's Andrea Gaitan. Lauren Curry, Edles and Shawdee Rouhafza were defeated in straight sets.
The tournament was the third and final of the fall for UC Davis, which is next in action in January when it begins its spring schedule.
