Final Stats

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Sarah Axelson hit a three-run homer to put UC Davis on top, 3-1, but Cal State Northridge scored five unearned runs on its way to a 7-3 victory Saturday afternoon at Matador Diamond. UC Davis outhit Cal State Northridge 8-6 but committed four errors in the game, which was the last of a three-game set between the two teams.

CSUN (23-24, 12-9 Big West) took a 1-0 lead in the third on an Amanda Peek home run but UC Davis (24-36, 9-12 Big West) wasted little time getting the run back. In the fourth, Sarah O'Neill was hit by a pitch with one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Ashley Johnson followed with a walk, and Axelson launched her sixth homer of the season to give UC Davis a 3-1 lead.

That margin would remain until the fifth when the Matadors scored a pair of unearned runs to tie the score at 3-3. CSUN would score four more times in the sixth inning with three of those runs being unearned.

Axelson finished the game 2-for-3. Lindsey Jones also turned in a 2-for-3 effort. Trish Paine, Julie Stauder, Deanna Menapace and Johnson also had singles.
