200 Free Relay Highlights Day One At Long Course

AUSTIN, Texas - The 200-meter freestyle relay team of Adam Pluemer, Nik Kemp, Jimmy Fong and Trent Richardson earned a second-place showing in 1:38.73 to highlight the first day of the All-American Long Course Invitational for UC Davis Thursday at the Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

Junior Alex Arbios had the best individual finish for UC Davis with his 10th-place showing in the 400 in a time off 4:02.42. Freshman Kyle Anderson also had a solid finish in the 200 individual medley by placing in the top 20 with a time of 2:18.89.

The Aggies returned to the invitational after a year away and faced some of the elite swimmers in the world. Olympic gold medalists Ian Crocker and Michael Phelps were the headliners competing against UC Davis at the event. Crocker claimed the 100 butterfly (51.67) while Phelps was first in the 200 individual medley (1:57.39).

Day two of the event begins tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. PST with preliminaries.
