SUNNYVALE, Calif.--For the second consecutive time this season, junior Arran Rogerson led a young contingent of UC Davis runners and helped the men's cross country team place fifth overall in the eight-kilometer race, while freshman Chelsea Mumby paced the women's team in the 5K race at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational at Baylands Park Saturday morning.

Dubbed the biggest meet on the West Coast this weekend, the men scored 121 to finish fifth in the 14-team invite field. The women brought just the minimum of five runners to finish last in the invite race with 437 points. Long Beach State swept the day with wins on both sides.

Rogerson paced the men's team by placing 22nd in 25:24. He led the Aggies during their last competition at the Doc Adams Open two weeks ago. Finishing right behind Rogerson was sophomore Andrew Peaboby in 25th place at 25:27.

The Aggies gained their final three scorers in the top 50 of the 137-man race in junior Tyler Rattray (25:34), sophomore Kyle Suarez (25:43) and senior Keli Parker (25:54). Rattray led the pack in 33rd and was followed by Suarez in 39th and Parker in 50th.

Freshman Chris Harland-Dunaway and sophomore David Buscho scored displacement points.

For the women, Mumby finished 83rd in 19:17 to lead the charge. Behind her in 95th and 97th, respectively, were fellow freshman Sam Kearney in 19:33 and Anna Smidebush in 19:36.

Sophomore Jenna Gailey (20:11) and freshman Jennifer Norris (20:37) rounded out the Aggie scorers. It was the first time Norris has scored team points in her young Aggie career.

Sophomore Jonathan Peterson ran unattached in his first race of the season and placed fourth overall in 24:48.

UC Davis takes next week off to train in preparation for the Big West Conference Championships on November 1.
