Washington Defeats Aggies In Men's Swimming Dual

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Senior Russell Taylor won the 200-yard breaststroke and the 200 individual medley, but Washington defeated UC Davis 142-115 in a non-conference men's swimming dual at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center Saturday night.

The Aggies fall to 1-1 in duals this season while the Huskies snap a three-dual losing streak to improve to 4-7 overall.

Taylor won the 200 breast in a season-best 2:07.06 and added another victory in the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.65. He also finished second in the 100 breast in 59.26.

Sophomore Daniel Donnelly also had a solid day as he claimed first in the 100 butterfly with his season-best time of 50.20. He was also second in the 200 fly (1:50.89) and 200 back (1:53.00), both of which were season-best times.

The Aggies had a productive night in the relay events, claiming a 1-2 finish in the 200 free relay and placing second in the 200 medley. Evan Kraus, Russ Underwood, Walter Eggert and Jason Kim combined to win the 200 free relay in 1:26.12. Adam Borchard, Alex Arbios, Brandt Robinson and Nik Kemp placed second in 1:28.36.

The 200 medley relay team of Adam Pluemer, Kyle Anderson, Eric Kim and Brandt Robinson finished second and established a new season-best time of 1:35.01.

Junior Alex Arbios won the 1,000 free with a new Big West season-best time of 9:25.75. He also placed third in the 500 free (4:41.94) to round out a great run in the distance events.

Freshman Matt Herman was second in the 1,000 free with his season-best time of 9:27.21. Fellow freshman, Jimmy Fong (100 back) and senior Nik Kemp (200 IM) each contributed second-place finishes in their respective events to help lead the Aggies.

UC Davis finishes its trip through the state of Washington tomorrow with a noon dual at Seattle.
