Volleyball Earns First League Win At Northridge

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Sophomore outside hitter Britt Erickson came off the bench to post 18 kills and a .310 hitting average to help UC Davis beat Cal State Northridge, 24-30, 30-27, 30-25, 31-29, in a Big West Conference women's volleyball match at the Matadome Saturday evening.

The Aggies pick up their first Big West Conference win, improving to 4--24 overall and 1-14 in league play. The Matadors fall to 10-18 for the year and 6-9 in the Big West.

Juinor Erin Turner and freshman Kayla Varney each posted double-doubles for UC Davis. Turner matched Erickson's tally of 18 kills to go with 20 digs, while Varney recorded numbers of 17 and 18, respectively. Freshman Diana Gustafson provided 12 digs on floor defense. Another freshman, middle blocker Julie King, hit 5-0-13 and registered five total blocks at the net.

Freshman outside hitter Brittany Williams led the Matadors with 17 kills while setter Kayla Wright posted 13 digs and a match-high four aces.

UC Davis finishes its first official Division I season at Pacific on November 16.
