WHAT HEAD COACH DAN CONNERS HAD TO SAY
"We've got a lot of work to do"
Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- Both teams battled for each point to begin the first set, with Gianna Bogan getting two of the first four kills on the way to an 8-8 start.
- An ace by Dunagan helped the Ags to a 4-0 run, but the Lobos responded with four straight of their own, refusing to back down.
- The battle of runs continued down the stretch, as aces continued to pour in from Chandler and Umpierre to help the home team keep things even at 20 apiece late.
- After a block from Allie Caldwell, Davis took full control of the set, taking in the last five points, capped off by a block from Bogan to win 25-20.
- New Mexico opened set two by scoring 10 of the first 13 points.
- The Aggies responded with six of seven, with Reese Diersbock leading the way with a block and kill to put her team back within three.
- However, that would be as close as Davis would get, with the Lobos wrapping up set two with a 25-15 victory.
- Set three began the same as the previous frame, with New Mexico starting at a 10-3 advantage.
- Demi Cole checked in for her first kill, but there would be no scoring run for the Aggies, with the Lobos winning 25-13 and taking a 2-1 lead.
- The game of runs was back for the third, with the second ace by Umpierre highlighting a 4-0 service run and an early 4-1 advantage.
- New Mexico struck again on a 6-0 run, but three straight points capped by back-to-back aces from Wong left things tied at seven.
- An ace by Chandler and kill by Diersbock was the last scoring the Ags would have, as New Mexico took over the set once again with a 25-16 victory, giving them a 3-1 win.
UP NEXT: Davis will begin a three match road trip next week as they travel to the Bay for two games against San Jose State on Oct. 16 & 17. The match on Friday, Oct. 16 will be at 6:00 pm PT and will be streamed on MW+.
