FRESNO, Calif. - Junior outside hitter Stevie Mussie posted a match-high 17 kills and hit .400 to lead fourth-ranked Washington to a 30-17, 30-14, 30-15 sweep over UC Davis in a neutral-site women's collegiate volleyball match at Fresno State's North Gym Friday. Left-side hitters Christal Morrison and Janine Sandell also had double-figured kills and hit better than .400 in the win.

The Aggies drop to 1-7 for the season. The Huskies, who won last year's NCAA title, improve to 9-1 overall.

Senior Nicole Read led UC Davis with seven kills, adding an ace, a block assist and eight digs to go with her offense. Freshmen Britt Erickson and Avreeta Singh recorded 12 and 10 digs, respectively, to pace the Aggie floor defense. Sophomore outside hitter Renee Ibekwe also made contributions, knocking down four kills on 12 swings and providing two block assists at the net.

The Huskies never trailed at any point in any of the three games, jumping out to 7-1 and 7-2 starts in the first two games. Washington also managed 10 aces and 7.5 blocks for the match, while hitting a robust .431 offensively. The 11 Huskies in the match combined for 55 kills against just eight errors, compared to the aggregate 27 and 20 numbers on the UC Davis side.

Washington is the third Pacific-10 Conference member the Aggies have faced this season, along with California and Washington State. UC Davis will continue its weekend action against Fresno State on Saturday.
