NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge posted a pair of victories against visiting UC Davis, Friday afternoon, in Northridge. The Matadors came from behind in the first game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to collect a 3-2 victory. In the second game, CSUN held on to defeat the Aggies, 6-4. Belinda Paine drove in both Aggie runs in the first game while Ashley Johnson and Sarah O'Neill each homered in the second game.
In the first game, UC Davis (15-38) struck first with a pair of runs in the second. With two outs and runners at first and second, Paine delivered a two-run triple to give the Aggies a 2-0 lead.
An RBI-double by Megan Smith in the fourth inning drew Cal State Northridge (21-20) within 2-1. In the seventh, and still trailing 2-1, Amanda Peek delivered a two-out, two-run homer to give the Matadors the 3-2 victory.
In the second game, Johnson led off the second inning with a home run to center to give UC Davis a 1-0 lead. The homer was Johnson's fifth of the season, tying her for the team lead.
The Matadors came back in their half of the second inning with four runs to take a 4-1 lead.
UC Davis responded with a two-out rally in the fourth. Nikki Sheldon started it with a single, and O'Neill finished it with her first homer of the year, a two-run shot, to pull the Aggies within 4-3.
That's as close as the Aggies would get as CSUN added two runs in the fifth. An RBI-single by Jodie Valley in the sixth accounted for the Aggies' final run of the game.
UC Davis closes out its series with Cal State Northridge as well as its 2006 season Saturday with a single game at 12 p.m.
