Aggies Sign Stacey Hains

April 26, 2006

DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis head softball coach Karen Matteson-Yoder has announced the signing of Stacey Hains to a National Letter of Intent during the spring signing period. Hains is currently a senior at Fowler High School in Selma, Calif., who has posted stellar numbers both in the circle and at the plate.

Hains, a team captain, is currently 11-1 with a 0.34 ERA with 11 complete games and three shutouts. She has struck out 95 batters in 82 innings of work and has given up just 51 hits. She ranks third in the Central California Section in ERA. At the plate, she is hitting .569, good for third in the section. She has hit five home runs, which ties her for third in the section. Her 26 RBIs lead the team and also rank her third in the section.

"Stacey will have the opportunity to compete for innings in the circle during her freshman season," said Matteson-Yoder. "She is a versatile athlete who brings an offensive threat as well. I am very excited about Stacey's future as an Aggie."

As a freshman, sophomore and junior, Hains attended Selma High School where she was a two-time First-Team All-League selection. Twice she was named Co-MVP of her team and helped lead her team to the playoffs each season. Hains' travel team, the Central California Krush, went 51-9 in 2005.

UC Davis is currently in the third year of a four-year transition to Division I. The Aggies will be official members of the Big West Conference beginning with the 2008 season.
