DAVIS, Calif. - Lindsay Tognetti has been named the Division I Independent Co-Pitcher of the Week for efforts in UC Davis' games last week. The junior right-hander posted a 0.60 ERA in two appearances in the Aggies' weekend series with UC Santa Barbara. It marks the second time this year Togentti has been honored with the weekly award.
In her first start of the week, Tognetti pitched a complete-game victory against UCSB on April 14. She scattered just three hits and struck out five in securing her sixth win of the year. She did not allow an earned run and retired 12 of the last 13 batters she faced as the Aggies outlasted the Gauchos, 2-1.
She went four and two-thirds innings the next day against UC Santa Barbara and allowed just one earned run with four strikeouts.
For the week, she pitched 11 and two-thirds innings, allowed one earned run and struck out nine. On the year, she leads the Aggies with a 2.50 ERA and a 6-9 record. She has struck out 112 batters in 101.0 innings.
Tognetti was also named Pitcher of the Week on March 29.
UC Davis (13-25) takes on Sacramento State this afternoon in a doubleheader that starts at 2 p.m. The Aggies will then play their next two weekend series on the road against Cal Poly and Cal State Fullerton, respectively.
