NOTES
The UC Davis women's water polo team went 3-2 two weeks ago while hosting UC Irvine followed by the 26th Annual Davis Shootout... Against UC Irvine the Aggies fell 7-1 with the lone UC Davis goal coming early in the first period via a penalty shot earned by Katherine O'Rourke and scored by Christi Raycraft... Against Colorado State the following morning, the Aggies took a 13-2 win over their Western Water Polo Association opponents... Ashley Greenwood posted a season-high four goals in the win... Against UC San Diego later in the day, Raycraft led the Aggies with two goals, two assists, three steals and two drawn exclusions as they upset the Tritons, 6-5... Ten Aggies scored in the third game of the tournament versus UC Santa Cruz including freshman Emily Kitchens who scored her first two collegiate goals against the Bananna Slugs... In the Aggies' tournament finale versus No. 4 Loyola Marymount, O'Rourke led the team with three goals and four drawn exclusions as they fell to the Lions in a narrow 10-8 loss... O'Rourke continues to lead the Aggies in goals scored on the season with 40 which already surpasses the 33 goals she scored last season... O'Rourke has posted 86 career goals as a junior, which ties her for ninth with Lenelle Dorfi (1997-2000) on the UC Davis career goals list ... O'Rourke also leads the team in drawn exclusions with 42 this season, exactly twice as many as she posted last season... Raycraft leads the team in assists (27) and steals (36)... Raycraft currently ranks fourth on the UC Davis season assists list and only needs four more to tie No. 1 Kim Parker's (2001) 31 assists... On the most recent national stats report, the Aggies ccontinue to be ranked third in the nation defensively behind Stanford and UCLA... The Aggies average 4.6 goals allowed per game... In this week's Collegiate Water Polo Association poll UC Davis is ranked 14th for the ninth week this season and for the second consecutive week.
UPCOMING OPPONENTS
The Aggies will host Pacific in the final home game of the season on Friday, April 21 at 4 p.m. at Schaal Aquatics Center. The Tigers have been struggling this season, posting an overall record of 0-19 with a record of 0-11 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play. The Aggies faced Pacific twice last season and won both match-ups. Friday's game will mark the final collegiate game at Schaal for three UC Davis seniors: Katie O'Neill, Megan Jimenez and Jessi Lafayette. The trio will be honored prior to the first sprint.
On Saturday, the Aggies will welcome back former UC Davis players as they host an alumni game at Schaal. Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
HEAD COACH Jamey Wright
On UC Irvine and Davis Shootout: "Despite a poor beginning against UC Irvine, we had a successful weekend. With Irvine I think it just came down to one bad quarter. The key things we talked about that weekend were drawing ejections and executing six-on-fives. Against UC San Diego five of the six goals we scored were on man-up situations and that is dramatic. It was great to see the team executing against two top-14 ranked teams (UC San Diego and Loyola Marymount)."
On this week: "We are heading into our conference championships next week so playing Pacific will be a good tune-up for the tournament. We are also excited for senior day and looking forward to the final home game for our seniors, it always gets a little teary. Playing Pacific and then the Alumni on Saturday will be a good chance to work out any kinks we are having."
