Tognetti Named Division I Independent Pitcher Of The Week

DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis junior Lindsay Tognetti has been named the Division I Independent Softball Pitcher of the Week. The honor is the first of the season for Tognetti who had another strong week in the Aggies' five games last week at the Stanford Invitational II. She started three games, including two against then-No. 5 Stanford and also pitched a two-hit shutout against Santa Clara.

Tognetti began her week last Saturday when she dominated Santa Clara in the complete game shuout. She scatttered just two hits while striking out 11 against one walk. On Sunday, she started both games against Stanford and allowed just two earned runs in a total of six and two-thirds innings. For the week, her totals included 17 strikeouts in 13 and two-thirds innings with eight hits and two earned runs allowed.

On the year, Tognetti leads the UC Davis staff with a 4-6 record and a 2.40 ERA. She is striking out 8.2 batters per seven innings.

The weekly honor is the fifth handed out to an Aggie this year. Ashley Johnson has twice been named D-I Independent Player of the Week while Roxanne Hannan has garnered a Newcomer-of-the-Week honor.

UC Davis is next in action Saturday in a doubleheader at Pacific.
