SUNNYVALE, Calif. - For the second straight day, weather has forced a change in the schedule at the National Invitational Softball Tournament in Sunnyvale. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place Friday through Sunday before rain washed out the entire Friday schedule. As a result, a modified two-day schedule was announced late Friday.
However, more rain overnight has pushed back the start of Saturday's games by five hours. Therefore, UC Davis is now scheduled to take on Southern Illinois Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. and Arizona State at 7 p.m.
Friday's postponement for UC Davis allowed the Aggies to schedule a home game with St. Francis (NY) at La Rue Field. UC Davis won that game, 5-0.
Should the weather hold up for the remainder of the weekend, the Aggies will close out play at the tournament Sunday with games against St. Francis (NY) and North Dakota State. UC Davis is also scheduled to face the Chinese National Team in an exhibition on Sunday afternoon.
