UPCOMING OPPONENTS
UC Davis will head to La Jolla, Calif. this weekend to participate in the UC San Diego Triton Invitational which is being held at UCSD's Canyonview Pool on Saturday and Sunday. The Aggies are slated to face Hartwick and UC Santa Barbara on Saturday with their Sunday play to be determined based on the outcome of Saturday's games.
No. 14 Hartwick currently holds a season record of 2-2 and was last in action against No. 2 USC where they took a 20-4 loss against the Trojans. Last season the Aggies defeated Hartwick in a narrow 10-9 win at the Davis Shootout.
No. 10 UC Santa Barbara opened the season last weekend with wins over Cal Baptist and Cal State San Bernadino on Saturday before falling to defending national champions No. 1 UCLA, 10-7 to start the season with a 2-1 overall record. The Aggies split a pair of games with the Gauchos last season. UC Davis fell to UC Santa Barbara 8-6 at the 2005 Triton Invitational but the Aggies took an 8-7 sudden-death overtime victory from the Gauchos later in the season.
HEAD COACH Jamey Wright
"This weekend will be another good opportunity to see our progress, what we need to keep working on and what we are doing well. All of the games are going to be difficult, competitive, quality games. All of our easy games this season are behind us. No easy teams are going to be at this tournament so we will have our hands full. How we finish is not as important as how we play."
