BOZEMAN, Mont. - Senior middle blocker Megan Zanto had 10 kills and hit .476 to lead Montana State to a 30-15, 30-17, 30-22 sweep of UC Davis in a women's collegiate volleyball match at Shroyer Gym Thursday.
The Aggies drop to 2-4 for the season. The Bobcats improve to 4-3.
Zanto committed no hitting errors in 21 swings, and added a pair of solo blocks on defense. Teammate Angela Wiebe also chipped in on four of her team's seven total blocks.
Junior Rachel Keener led UC Davis with nine digs while freshman libero Nichole Brown had a team-best 11 digs. However, the Aggies managed just 17 kills and suffered from 27 hitting errors in the first two games. UC Davis hit minus-.146 in Game 1, then minus-.071 in Game 2. The Aggies improved to 17 kills and just 7 errors in the third, but could not avoid the sweep.
Patti Anderson hit 5-0-12 offensively and recorded a match-high 18 digs for the Bobcats. Montana State outdug UC Davis by a 64-46 margin.
UC Davis continues a four-match road trip with its participation in the Montana Invitational. The Aggies open the tournament with a 4:30 match against New Mexico Friday.
