A three-year letterwinner at the University of Tennessee and a veteran coach at the club, high school and collegiate level, Amy Buchanan joined the Aggies as a director of operations in 2017. She will also serve as Ali McColloch's assistant with UC Davis beach volleyball when that season kicks off its inaugural season in 2019.
Buchanan played for the Vols from 1992-94, helping her team to an NCAA tournament berth as a sophomore, and leading the team in both aces (29) and aces per set (0.31) as a junior. She later played a remaining season of eligibility at Metro State in 1998, where she posted 416 kills and boosted the Roadrunners to a 26-11 record and another NCAA postseason appearance.
Buchanan remained in the Denver area, coaching for Flatirons VBC for six seasons, plus Metro State for two others. She later coached at Bozeman High School and the Big Sky VBC in Montana, then relocated to Chicago, where she mentored the Wildcat Juniors.Â
In 2015, Buchanan moved to the Northern California area, where she coached the 16 Gold and 12 Gold squads at SynergyForce VBC in Rocklin before joining the UC Davis staff.
