PITTSBURG HS '20: Lettered four years of football plus one in wrestling... Played for head coach Victor Galli, helping the team combine for a 38-10 record in his four seasons... Selected to Prep2Prep's 2019 All-North Coast Section squad... Earned first-team All-Bay Valley Athletic League honors as a junior O-lineman, then won such honors on both sides of the ball as a senior... PHS averaged 36 points and 404 yards per game in 2019, finishing the year at No. 4 the San Jose Mercury News Top 25 and advancing to the North Coast Section Division I title game.

PERSONAL: Born in Martinez, Calif.... Majoring in sociology... Parents are Mike Fonongaloa and Malia Latu... Older brother, Saia, played football at Cal Poly... Note to announcers: name is pronounced "SAH-mee fah-NON-gah-loh-ah"... Lists video games among his hobbies, so much so that he has achieved Prestige Master level in multiple Call of Duty games... Chose UC Davis because "I wanted to go to a college that would value me as a person as much as they value me as a player."
