2018: ROLF BENIRSCHKE AWARD recipient, presented to the outstanding special teams player… Competed in all 13 games… Two of his five total tackles were solo… Recorded a tackle in each of the Aggies’ first four games: at San José State (8/30), vs. San Diego (9/8), at Stanford (9/15) and at home versus Idaho (9/22)… Other tackle took place at Montana (10/27)… Returned seven kicks for a combined 136 yards… Season-long 29-yard kick return took place at Eastern Washington (12/8) in his team’s first-ever FCS quarterfinal playoff game… Five of his seven kick returns were for 20 yards or more… Also finished the season with eight rushing yards on two carries.
2017: BIG SKY CONFERENCE ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM... Competed in all 11 games... Finished with six tackles, four solo and two assisted... Collected solo tackles against San Diego (9/9), North Dakota (9/30), Cal Poly (10/28) and Idaho State (11/4)... Recorded assisted tackles at Portland State (9/16) and Sacramento State (11/18).
2016: Saw action against Northern Colorado (10/15).
2015: On roster but did not compete.
2014: Redshirted.
LE GRAND HS '14: Earned all-state honors after rushing for 2,010 yards during his senior season... Averaged 10.3 yards per carry, scored 31 TDs, with a long of 96 yards... Also caught four passes for 58 yards... Tallied 320 yards on three touchdowns against Waterford... Recorded a rush of 28 yards or more in every game throughout his senior season... Rushed 242 times for 1,794 yards as a junior, including a long of 69 yards... Scored 19 TDs... Competed for a Le Grand team that advanced to the Div. IV California State Bowl... Helped Le Grand HS post a 35-3 record and capture three section titles throughout his last three seasons... Ranked first in his class with a 4.18 GPA, earning valedictorian honors.
PERSONAL: Born in Merced, Calif.... Parents are John and Mary Martinez... Sports hero is former NFL great Barry Sanders... Plans to pursue a career in physical therapy, or become an orthopedic surgeon... Favorite facility he's played in is the StubHub Center in Southern California.
