NORTH SALINAS HS '17: Selected Monterey Bay League Defensive Lineman of the Year as a sophomore and senior... Earned similar distinction for Central Coast Section in 2016... Played offensive tackle and nose guard for a team that went 9-3 overall and a perfect 6-0 vs. MBL Pacific Division opponents in 2015... Coached by Darren Spence... Forced 8 fumbles as a senior... Tallied 72 tackles with 8 sacks as a junior, 68 stops as a sophomore... Three-time MaxPreps Defensive Player of the Game during final two seasons... Two-time team MVP, plus Defensive MVP as a sophomore... Also starred for NSHS track & field team, placing 2nd in discus (154-7) at the 2016 Central Coast Championship meet... Won MBL Division final in shot put, advancing to CCS semifinals (47-8)... State qualifier and MBL runner-up as a wrestler (heavyweight division).

PERSONAL: Born in Hawai'i... Parents are Filemoni and Candida Tapuloa... Volunteers for his church and sings in the choir... Also member of ADAPT (Alcohol Drug Abuse Prevention Team) and Health Academy clubs... An accomplished musician, Hunkin once performed at an Oakland Raiders halftime show.
