Jim Chapin joined the UC Davis football staff in January 2015 after serving the past three seasons at Indiana University (Pa.) where he helped develop several outstanding running backs and a potent ground game for the Crimson Hawks. He helped direct a particularly potent rushing attack in 2012 when IUP rushed for 3,630 yards and 36 touchdowns. Harvie Tuck led the way with 1,660 yards and 16 TDs while De'Antwan Williams carried the ball for 1,325 yards and 10 scores.

That preceded Williams rushing for 1,347 yards and 19 touchdowns the following season, highlighting the year with a school-record 315 yards and 3 TDs against Shippensburg (Pa.). IUP scored 32 times on the ground in 2013, averaging 216.7 rushing ypg.

Chapin, who graduated from the University of Michigan in 2009, began his collegiate coaching in 2010 at Adrian College in Michigan where he coached wide receivers, special teams and was recruiting coordinator. He also coached tight ends and fullbacks at Adrian.
