2019: Appeared in all 24 matches for the Aggies, finishing with 26 goals and eight assists for 34 points… Attempted 42 shots on the season, averaging 1.75 shots per match and a .619 shooting percentage… Ranked fourth on the team in goals… His .619 shooting percentage is good for fourth on the single-season list (minimum 20 goals scored)… Finished with a season-high four goals against No. 19 California Baptist (9/20) and added hat tricks against No. 5 California (9/14) and Fresno Pacific (11/22) — the latter in the opening round of the WWPA Tournament… Scored at least one goal in each of the first six matches of the year… Attempted a season-high four shots in back-to-back matches against the Golden Bears and Lancers… Had a season-high two assists against No. 14 Loyola Marymount (9/8) and Concordia (10/20)… Swiped two of his 11 steals against California.
2018: Appeared in all 26 contests for the Aggies… Finished with 23 goals and 12 assists for 35 points… His 23 scores came on only 41 shot attempts for a .561 shooting percentage… Scored in 14 of his 26 appearances, including the first seven contests of the year… Finished with a season-high four goals in a win over Loyola Marymount on Nov. 1… Added a hat trick at Fresno Pacific on Oct. 25, and multiple goals against MIT (Sept. 1), San Jose State (Sept. 8), Chapman (Sept. 15), and Loyola Marymount (Nov. 17)… Finished with a pair of steals against Harvard (Sept. 15) and Pacific (Nov. 11)… Posted assists in 10 matches, included a season-high two assists twice against MIT (Sept. 1) and Saint Francis (Sept. 2).
2017: Appeared in 17 games... Shot 10-for-18 with 6 steals and a pair of assists for the year... Netted perfect 5-for-5 in WWPA play... Scored season-high 2 goals vs. Concordia (10/15), Fresno Pacific (10/28).
2016: Played 103 minutes in 12 games as a reserve... Shot 4-for-8 with 3 steals and 2 field blocks... Scored all four goals in back-to-back tournaments: two in Aggie Roundup (9/17-9/18), two at Mountain Pacific Invite (9/24-9/25).
2015: Redshirted.
SOQUEL HS ’15: Earned first-team NISCA All-America, All-Central Coast Section and Monterey Bay League MVP honors in final season... Three-time All-MBL selection... Key stats: 132 goals, 64 assists, 66 steals as a senior; 101 goals, 79 assists, 72 steals as a junior; 55 goals, 47 assists, 70 steals as a sophomore; 40 goals, 20 assists, 47 steals as a freshman... Tri-County Athletic League Freshman of the Year in 2011... Appeared in Sports Illustrated’s “Faces In The Crowd” department in 2014... Played for Stanford WPC, earning Cal-Hi All-America accolades and earning a spot at USAWP’s U-18 national selection camp.
PERSONAL: Born in Santa Cruz, Calif.... Majoring in psychology... Parents are Chris Somple & Miyuki Nagasawa... Third sibling to attend UC Davis, along with sisters Summer and Kai, each of whom graduated in 2002... Brother in law, Mike Poutney, played water polo at UC Davis... Proudest personal accomplishment was winning a U.S. Livesaving Association national lifeguard championship.
