2019: Appeared in all 24 matches for the Aggies, scoring 27 goals and assisting on two others… Attempted 56 shots on the year, averaging 2.33 per match and finishing with a .482 shooting percentage… Added nine steals and 24 drawn exclusions… Finished the season ranked third on the team in goals scored and fourth in shots… Scored multiple goals in a match seven times, including five goals in a win over No. 13 Loyola Marymount (9/28)… Finished with at least one shot in every match on the year, including a season-high six attempts against the Lions and three contests with four shots… Only two assists on the year came against Chapman (9/7) and No. 3 Pacific (10/4)… Finished with single steals in nine different matches.
2018: Appeared in 21 of the team’s 26 matches… Finished with 13 goals and three assists for 16 points… Attempted 29 shots and finished the year with a .448 shooting percentage.. His 27 drawn exclusions ranked third on the team… Scored a goal in nine different matches on the year, including six of the final eight… Found the back of the net a season-high four times against Concordia in the first round of the WWPA Tournament… Added a pair of goals two games earlier against UC San Diego… Finished with single assists against Harvard, MIT, and the Tritons.
2017: Returned from offseason injury to see action in 22 games, resulting in 24-for-47 (.511) shooting, 32 drawn kickouts and 3 drawn five-meters... Hit a career-high 5 goals vs. Saint Francis Brooklyn at the Julian Fraser Memorial tourney (10/21)... Also coaxed four exclusions in that contest... Performed two other hat tricks: 3 goals each vs. Fresno Pacific (10/28) and Air Force in WWPA semifinal (11/18).
2016: Scored 32 goals in just 370 total minutes played... Also had 12 steals, 27 drawn kickouts (includes 2 five-meter), 4 field blocks... Scored 6 goals with 6 steals and 6 drawn exclusions in conference play... Performed three hat tricks: 3 at Santa Clara (10/1), 4 vs. Wagner (10/22), 3 in NCAA play-in with Harvard (12/1).
YALE SECONDARY ’16: Lettered in rugby, swimming and water polo... Won 100-meter title and placed second in 50 at Provincial Championships... Four-year Outstanding Achievement winner and Honour Roll member... Played seven years of club ball for Fraser Valley WPC... Three-year member of Canadian youth national team... Helped Team Canada win bronze at 2015 Youth Pan Am Championships, gold at 2015 Youth Cup.
PERSONAL: Born in Abbotsford, B.C.... Majoring in chemical engineering... Parents are Mike & Leanne Martel... Youngest of four siblings, along with Danielle (29), Jennifer (27) and Alex (24)... Career plans are to manage a vineyard in either France or the Okanagan Valley.
