DAVIS, Calif. — A late fourth-quarter goal from
Katie Kim wasn't enough as UC Davis field hockey dropped a tight 2-1 decision to Columbia at home on Friday afternoon.

- Katie Kim sparked the Aggie attack late in the fourth quarter, burying her first goal of the 2026 campaign.
- Addy Collingwood delivered another steady performance between the pipes, making five total saves to keep UC Davis within striking distance.
- Ella Franken generated multiple scoring opportunities down the stretch, putting two quality shots on cage off late penalty corner setups.
- The Aggie defense stood tall against Columbia's set pieces, turning away six of seven penalty corner chances.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both sides established a defensive battle early, with Collingwood turning aside two first-quarter attempts to keep the match deadlocked through a scoreless opening half.
- Columbia broke through midway through the third quarter, taking a 1-0 lead as Lizzie Adams finished a pass from Mckenzie Bloom.
- The Lions extended their margin to 2-0 less than two minutes later, with Adams capitalizing off a penalty corner insertion from Delfina Gonzalez Lobo at the 38:26 mark.
- UC Davis refused to go quietly, building momentum late in the fourth quarter and drawing consecutive penalty corners before Kim found the back of the cage in the 58th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.
- The Aggies drew another corner with under two minutes remaining in search of the equalizer, but the Lions held firm to secure the 2-1 decision.
