MORAGA, Calif. — Caelan Kellett scored his first collegiate goal in the 83rd minute as UC Davis twice erased one-goal deficits to earn a 2-2 draw at Saint Mary's Saturday afternoon at Saint Mary's Stadium.
Joshua Gault assisted on both second-half goals, with Luke Castagnola also finding the net for the Aggies (0-5-3) in their final nonconference match.
Saint Mary's (2-4-3) took the lead at 12:30 when Luke Schaefer scored off an assist from Talan Rochelle. The Gaels carried that 1-0 advantage into halftime.
UC Davis pushed for the equalizer early in the second half. Sam Bentley saved Declan Horio's penalty kick at 50:59 before Castagnola drew the Aggies level at 56:02 off Gault's first assist of the afternoon.
Rafael Suarez restored the Saint Mary's lead at 75:47, assisted by Cyrus Shafie. Bentley turned away a Rafael Matiello attempt in the 80th minute, but Kellett delivered the equalizer at 82:48 off another assist from Gault, leaving 7 minutes, 12 seconds on the clock.
The Aggies held a 14-13 advantage in shots and a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. Horio led UC Davis with four attempts, while Matiello added three. Each put two shots on target. Talin Morgan made one save over the full 90 minutes.
UC Davis opens its inaugural Mountain West schedule at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at San Jose State's Spartan Soccer Complex.

- Gault recorded his first two collegiate assists and moved into a tie with Jake Hobbs for the team lead with two this season.
