TEMPE, Ariz. — UC Davis volleyball battled No. 24 Oregon in three sets to finish up the Synder-Park Classic in Tempe on Saturday, Sept. 12. The Aggie offense pushed things to extras in the third set but the team would ultimately fall in three.

FIRST SERVE

• Brooke Hibino led the offense with 15 kills, her fourth straight contest with double-digit points.
• Isabella Umpierre also hit double-digits on the afternoon with 10 kills.
• Umpierre also tied for the team lead with eight digs, with Rachel Dunagan being the other Aggie with that number.
• Mia Starr orchestrated the offense with 28 assists.

"We fought hard until the end but just we're not playing with the consistency that it takes to beat elite teams. We still have a lot to learn and a long way to go to get playing at our best."

 
HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Off service from Dunagan, the Aggies would take the first point of the match.
• A 4-1 run from the Ducks put them at a small advantage, but Davis would continue to keep their opponent at arms reach throughout the first.
• Down 16-17, the Ags saw Oregon rattle off four straight to hit 20 points in the final stretch of the frame.
• Back-to-back kills by Ana Stojanovic looked to power the offense, but Oregon would take the first 25-19.
• Set two was similar to the first all throughout, with an ace by Umpierre giving Davis its first lead of the afternoon.
• The lead would continue up until 8-5, when the Ducks put together 5-0 and 4-0 runs to go up by as much as seven.
• Kills by Hibino and Umpierre carried the offense down the stretch, but the lead proved too much as Oregon would take set two 25-18 and secure a 2-0 lead.
• Set three saw both clubs exchange runs at the start. Demi Cole would check in and get her first kill of the day to help give her team an early 6-4 lead.
• As Ximena Cordero Barr stepped up on the service line, she would secure an ace during a 3-0 run that gave the Ags an 11-8 lead.
• Oregon would strike back a few points later to take six of seven and snatch the advantage back.
• The rallies continued on both sides of the court all the way to the end. With the Ducks up 24-22 and looking to close it out, Hibino went back-to-back to tie it back up at 24.
• Another Oregon point was met with a kill by Cordero Barr, with the set knotted up at 25 now.
• However, this would be the end of the rally, as back-to-back points from the Ducks would shut the door, winning 27-25 and securing a sweep.

UP NEXT: The Aggies finish up non-conference play next week with three games against fellow Golden State opponents. The action begins at home on Wednesday, Sept. 16 versus the University of California at 6:00 pm PT.
