LOS ANGELES, Calif. — UC Davis (2-3-2) extended its unbeaten streak to three in a row with its first scoreless tie of the season at LMU (1-4-1) in a nonconference match Thursday at Sullivan Field. Cat Pieper recorded the fifth solo shutout of her career in her first action in goal for the Aggies this season and had strong support from a backline of Kiley Fehrenbacher, Sydnie Fong, Ava Peterson and Courtney Wagner. All four defenders joined Pieper in playing a full 90 minutes.
"I thought it was a great team effort in earning a shutout on the road," head coach Kat Mertz said. "The backline stepped up along with our goalkeeper. We battled hard and were unfortunate not to get a goal in the first half."
UC Davis looked to score in the 18th minute but an apparent goal by Lakelee Perkins was overturned after video review due to an offside penalty.
LMU held an 11-7 advantage in shots and 4-2 lead in shots on goal but could not get a shot by Pieper, who had three of her four saves over the first 13:16 of the match and her final one in the last minute of the match.
The teams both finished with five corner kicks.
Fong (8th minute) and Payton Henry (48th) each had a single shot on goal for the Aggies,
UC Davis will be out of action for one week before next taking the pitch for a non-conference contest at Portland (1-5-0) on Sept. 17. Kickoff time is at 7 p.m. PT and the match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
The Aggies next return home to host Idaho in their final nonconference match of the season and last tune-up for Mountain West action on Sunday, Sept. 20 (1 p.m., MW+).

There is construction work in the area and fans should follow posted signage around the Pavilion Parking Structure, Lot 25 and Aggie Soccer Field to enter the venue.

- The 0-0 tie marked the second straight season UC Davis and LMU have played to a 0-0 tie in Los Angeles. Cat Pieper was in goal for the Aggies for both shutouts.
- D Kiley Fehrenbacher, F Lakelee Perkins, D Courtney Wagner and D Sydnie Fong each started and remain the only four players on the roster to start all seven matches.
- D Kiley Fehrenbacher extended her consecutive matches started streak to 26 (all games possible in the last two seasons).
- D Ava Peterson made her first career start and was the 17th different player to start a match for the Aggies this season.
- UC Davis' current three-game unbeaten streak (1-0-2) since the Aggies posted a 5-0-2 record over the final seven games of the 2024 regular season.
- GK Cat Pieper became the third UC Davis goalkeeper to record a solo shutout this season, joining Dina Frenkel (at Fresno State) and Piper Wilkison (Pacific).
